Testimonials

Here is what our current and past staff members have said working for ResSoc.

  • Working as a Residence Facilitator this year has been a great experience! I've been able to act as a resource for students and help shape their first-year university experience by running events and giving out care packages. It's always rewarding to be able to make someone's day in small ways like handing out hot chocolate or cand, and I get to help advocate for students as a leader in residence student government.

  • The Residence Facilitator experience is a unique and rewarding experience. It's been my pleasure to be a Residence Facilitator this year. I have had the opportunity to help run some cool and exciting events, to help students with important issues in Residence, and to work with some awesome people. If you're interested in making a difference and getting a unique experience you should apply to become a Residence Facilitator!

  • I loved my role as a Residence Facilitator of Jean Royce. This job was a blend between an event planner + advocate + student leader. This job gives you the best of both worlds as it provide housing, a meal plan, a year of work experience, and you get to work with an AMAZING student government with amazing people! This job will help you further develop your leadership, time management and communication skills! For my students, I planned a tote bag painting night, a holiday fair, and 2 online events, trivia and a fitness night! As I finish my work term, I have reflected a lot, and this was truly a rewarding experience!

  • Being a Residence Facilitator offered me this inside scoop of what goes on in residence from the perspective of both a student and a staff member. It allowed me to see where things went wrong, what students wanted, and how implementing new policies or rules worked or didn't work. Beyond this, I was able to interact with all of the students in my building and create relationships by running events and being available to them as necessary. I've truly enjoyed my expereince as a Residence Facilitator and would recommend it to anyone looking to get involved!

  • My favourite part about being an RF was the connections that I made with the residents. Through this role, I furthered my creativity and organizational skills in planning meaningful and engaging events. ResSoc supported my throughout the process being with a comprehensive training plan, the bi-weekly meetings with supervisors plus all-staff social activities during the year, fostering an open workplace environment for staff to gain valuable experiences and develop their passions.

  • Working as an intern for ResSoc was one of my favourite first-year experiences! I was surrounded by a team of upper-year students that not only helped develop my professional skills but helped me grow as a student; they often lead me to resources that helped me exponentially, that I otherwise wouldn't have known about. Everyone on the team was always so kind and helpful and that's why I'm thrilled to be joining the ResSoc team as a RF this year!
